Most major cities have large volunteer networks such as
Service Saturdays, usually the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of the month, are designed to engage the entire Brandon Hall community in service events. We are partnering with local service organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Atlanta Community Food Bank, and Whole Foods Garden to work on a variety interesting and fun projects. Day students, boarding students, parents, faculty, and staff are all encouraged to sign up and join us for as many of these events as possible. You can find dates and details on the BH calendar.
Graduation requirements are based on the state guidelines as well as generally understood criterion for college entrance. The minimum graduation requirement is 22 credits and 60 hours of community service over 4 years of high school.
Brandon Hall strongly recommends that students complete 15 hours of community service per school year as we believe that this is a manageable number and also significant enough to have an impact on each student as well as our community. We are looking forward to providing enough service opportunities through the school to meet this goal and also encourage students and families to explore service opportunities in their own community.
As our graduation requirement began during the 2014-2015 school year, required hours will be pro-rated for the current students and students with rolling admissions based on an expectation of 15 hours per year. Current student requirements are as follows:
