Upper School
In line with the school's mission, Brandon Hall provides a college preparatory curriculum that emphasizes rigorous core and electives courses as well as standardized test preparation. The curriculum is delivered in such a way as to allow for a variety of skill levels. Specialized SAT/ACT and TOEFL courses are offered by certified standardized test preparation professionals, beginning in the junior and continuing through the senior year. In addition, curriculum-based standardized testing is given each year in all grade levels to assist students in becoming acclimated to test taking techniques and high-stakes testing formats.Graduation requirements are based on the state guidelines as well as generally understood criterion for college entrance.
Graduation Requirements
Brandon Hall prides itself in maintaining 100% college placement annually. Seniors are required to apply to two colleges/universities, and they must be accepted to at least one. The minimum graduation requirement is 22 credits to be completed in the following manner:Core Curriculum Units
- English: 4 units of credit
- Mathematics: 4 units of credit (Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry required)
- Science: 4 units of credit (Two lab sciences required)
- History: 3 units of credit (World History, United States History, and .5 Government and .5 Economics required)
- Foreign Language: 2 units of credit (Three units strongly recommended. Waivers are accepted based upon supportive documentation.)
Additional Units
- Physical Education/Health: 1 unit of credit, obtainable through class work or athletic participation
- Fine Arts: 1 unit of credit
- Computer Science: .5 units of credit, obtainable through curriculum infusion
- Electives: Remaining units
