The Mission
Focusing on the strengths of the individual, Brandon Hall provides personalized college preparatory classes for students who desire a more intensive educational setting and whose strengths and potential have yet to be fully realized and celebrated. The Philosophy and Vision
Founded in 1959 by Theodore and Shirley Hecht, Brandon Hall School is located on a pristine 27 acre campus on the Chattahoochee River near Atlanta, Georgia. Brandon Hall is a nonprofit college preparatory day and boarding school. The mission focuses on the strengths of the individual by providing personalized college preparatory classes for students who desire a more intensive educational setting and whose strengths and potential have yet to be fully realized and celebrated. The school perceives its students as unique individuals while developing social, physical, and intellectual traits that are equally important for optimal success. At the center of Brandon Hall's educational philosophy is the firm belief that all students can become successful learners and that there are no preset limits to what students can achieve. In preparing students for future experiences, Brandon Hall believes that students need to learn how to think and reason in order to solve problems, to capitalize on strengths, to make educated decisions, to utilize technology, and to communicate effectively.Preparing to be productive in a diverse society, students learn to appreciate the opinions of others while gaining an understanding of various cultures and heritages, driving civility in their relationships. Brandon Hall believes that a student's education is immensely enhanced when parents, teachers, and administrators work cooperatively as partners in education. The result is a Personalized Education Program (PEP) that continually evolves to accommodate students through teaching methods, assistive technology, and curricular content for a student's entire stay at Brandon Hall.
Brandon Hall's Personalized Education Program promotes academic and personal success for college and life. This approach to education stimulates an appreciation and understanding of a "living" education via a multisensory instructional approach, comprehensive engagement with technology, the development of leadership and life skills, and learning experientially. The personalized style of education develops in each student a high degree of information retention, motivation, direction, and self-esteem. Thus, students can harness the benefits of working in a dynamic educational environment that develops skills in communication and collaboration.
International studies are at the core of Brandon Hall's curriculum. A country is selected each year and its history and culture are interwoven with all the other disciplines producing a rich tapestry that culminates in a yearly trip to the country studied.
Brandon Hall is a community of involved and passionate people that embody the school's mission and an overall desire to affect positive change in the world. Brandon Hall's students are economically, socially, and ethnically diverse with a wide array of interests and abilities who thrive in a creative, supportive learning environment. Brandon Hall's teachers, counselors, and administration bring an extensive range of experiences from both academic and professional fields and over 70% of the faculty and administration hold advanced degrees. Other important components of the Brandon Hall community are the Parent's Guild and Athletic Booster Club, vibrant groups that support the school through classroom involvement, educational programs, athletics, special events, and fund raising activities. As part of its philosophy, Brandon Hall is connected to other learning communities that seek to improve education for children around the world.
Reflecting on the mission and philosophy, the vision of Brandon Hall is to be the premier boarding school in the south who is committed to providing a stimulating and structured learning environment with a technological orientation across the curriculum, which maximizes individual potential and ensures students of all ability levels are well-equipped to meet the challenges of education and life, thus turning potential into reality and CELEBRATING the successes of every student.
