Brandon Hall offers three sessions of courses for credit and courses for enrichment during the summer.

Course Offerings for Credit

Two, Four and Six-Week Sessions Earn ½, 1, or 1½ Credits

Upper School courses are offered for credit in English, mathematics, science, history, foreign language, and ESL (English as a Second Language). The Summer ESL program is designed to increase skill in reading, writing, and oral expression for international students. Upper School ESL classes are for credit and will be arranged according to students’ proficiency.

Students requiring a more intense level of supervision, remedial instruction, and/or a course that is not generally offered during the summer will be reviewed on an individual bases and standard fees will not apply.

Enrichment Courses - Grades 5-8

Two, Four and Six-Week Sessions

Reading and Writing Skills is designed to provide a strong foundation in both reading and writing. The reading component includes comprehension, word recognition, word attack, phonics, and content-based reading. The writing component focuses on effective written expression, syntax, grammatical concepts, and enhanced vocabulary.

Math Skills provides a solid review for the student who has weak math skills or who wishes to maintain skill levels during the summer months. The course includes a review of all major concepts in the math curriculum.

Organizational Skills are embedded in the daily content coursework. Applied study skills include organizational strategies, note taking, effective listening, highlighting, outlining and self-testing.

Dates and Times

All sessions run Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. No classes are held on July 4th. The 2012 Summer School calendar is as follows:

Session I: June 4 - 15
Session II: June 18 - 29
Session III: July 2 - 13

Tuition

Includes tuition, lunch, and initial $250 supply fee.

Recreation Extension: Day Student

Recreation Extension for day students is a 2 ½ hour extension to the school day, beginning at 2:30 p.m. and concluding at 5:00 p.m. Activities may include, but are not limited to, snacks, games, movies, and homework. Twenty-four hours notice is required. Fee: $25/day

Boarding for Boys and Girls

The school offers a boarding program during summer school for students in grades 7-12. The boarding program is housed in Sipple Hall, which includes the commons, a recreation room, and study hall. Students enjoy afternoon recreation activities followed by free time, dinner, and study hall. Resident faculty members supervise students and assist with homework. Boarders enjoy weekend cultural, recreational, and athletic activities in the metropolitan area. Various transportation options to and from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport are ideal for students utilizing air transportation.
